Ingredients

For the Filling:

4 cups (600g) fresh blackberries (or frozen, thawed)

ΒΎ cup (150g) granulated sugar

1 tbsp lemon juice

1 tsp cornstarch (optional, for thicker syrup)

For the Batter:

Β½ cup (115g) unsalted butter

1 cup (125g) all-purpose flour

1 cup (200g) granulated sugar

2 tsp baking powder

ΒΌ tsp salt

1 cup (240ml) milk

1 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

Prep & Preheat – Melt butter in a 9×13-inch baking dish while preheating oven to 350Β°F (175Β°C).

Make Filling – Toss blackberries with sugar, lemon juice, and cornstarch (if using). Set aside.

Prepare Batter – Whisk flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Stir in milk and vanilla until smooth.

Assemble – Pour batter over melted butter in the dish (do not stir!). Spoon berry mixture evenly on top.

Bake – 45–50 minutes until golden and bubbling. Let rest 10 minutes before serving.
